CCDF Policy Opportunities for Supporting Populations Impacted by Opioid Misuse and Substance Use Disorders

Dear Colleagues,

Communities all across the country are affected by opioid misuse and substance use disorders. The Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) program can play a vital role in assisting impacted children and families.

Child care assistance can provide a powerful stabilizing force for those families working toward recovery. This Information Memorandum (IM) identifies potential policy areas and resources to consider as lead agencies design their policies.

We recognize that lead agencies must weigh how to best use and prioritize available resources to meet the particular needs of their families. We hope this IM will be a helpful resource as your lead agency determines how to best serve vulnerable children and families, particularly those in communities impacted by opioid misuse and substance use disorders. If you have any questions or comments about this guidance, please contact the CCDF Program Manager in your Administration for Children and Families Regional Office.
